Federal townhouse façade with restoration — Bank Street illustration

Project overview

Original sash repaired in place, one window at a time, with the family at home.

The owners wanted to keep living in the house throughout. We restored the sash in sequence, two windows at a time, fitting temporary panels while each pair was in the workshop.

Each window was stripped, repaired and re-hung; weatherstripping was concealed in the parting bead. The work was approved as a Certificate of No Effect.
