Limestone townhouse façade with steel casements — East 73rd Street illustration

Project overview

Original steel casements restored on the front; matched replacements at the rear.

A 1910s limestone front with original steel casements, several seized and corroded at the hinges. The sections themselves were sound, so the front was restored rather than replaced.

At the rear, later wood replacements were removed and new thermally improved steel casements installed to the original sightlines. Hardware was reproduced from a surviving handle.
